Description
Process control system and control applications implemented in the system are the most critical and important parts of an integrated modern manufacturing plant. This training workshop will provide the trainees with a comprehensive overview and understanding of the key components of a modern control system and how a system can be selected according to the needs of the process automation. The participants will master some of the most important practical process control concepts and techniques such as feedback and feedforward control, as well as how these techniques can be implemented using modern Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

Objective

The participants will learn to:
  • Understand the basic design and architecture of modern control systems
  • Size and select a process control system according to the needs of a plant automation
  • Understand basic process control concepts such as feedback and feedforward control
  • Implement and maintain different process control strategies/applications
Target audience
  • Engineers of all disciplines
  • Technicians (Engineering and Maintenance)
  • Senior control system/process operators
  • Control system project managers and production supervisor
Learning outcomes
  • Select and size process control system to meet your plant automation project requirements.
  • Prepare process control project documentation.
  • Understand basic process control system design concepts.
  • Implement feedback-feedforward and other control strategies.
  • Select proper feedback controller mode and tune the control loop for optimum performance.
Special features
This workshop is designed based on process control methodologies and techniques commonly practiced in the process industries. Participants will learn the subject topics by attending the lectures with examples, class assignments, and control simulation demonstration.

Kim Choo

Kim Choo, P.ENG, PhD, C.Eng, MIChemE, ISA, is an affiliate member of the International Composite Research Institute of Western University, Ontario. He received his PhD and MSc from Wales University, UK, in Chemical Engineering, as well as his BSc in Chemical Engineering from Nanyang University, Singapore.
