The Geotechnical Engineering (GE) Certificate is a hands-on program which will enable geotechnical professionals and provide them with what they need to start practicing within this specialization.
This graduate program is designed for:
- New engineering graduates
- Engineers whose field is not geotechnical engineering but wish to specialize or practice geotechnical engineering.
The program is composed of five courses to cover all the fundamentals of geotechnical engineering practice. The level of training provided is elementary to intermediate.
The program is composed of the following multi-delivery training methodologies:
1. Each course duration is 36 hours of live webinar instructions and training
2. You can join the class from anywhere in the world
3. If you miss a class for unforeseen reasons, the instructor will record it for you to watch it at later time
By end of this program you are expected to achieve the following goals:
- Learn the fundamentals of geotechnical engineering practice
- Learn about methods of soil investigation and plan for site exploration programs
- Be able to design both shallow and deep foundations
- Be able to perform slope stability and suggest stabilization methods
- Learn about soil improvement techniques and plans
Minimum admission requirements:
The candidate must have a graduate college or university engineering degree:
- 2 years college engineering diploma
- 3 years college engineering diploma
- A university engineering diploma
Any engineering specialization could be admitted.
Courses to take:
(must achieve a minimum of 60% for a passing grade)
Each course will contain a sample graduation project to allow for practical, hands-on assignments for each candidate.
Candidates must achieve a minimum of 60% for a passing grade on the online exam.
Taking the aforementioned five courses within an eighteen-month period will entitle the candidate to the designation: “Geotechnical Engineer” (GE).
